The scholarship program was launched in September 2020 by our principal, Alafea Reynolds, in partnership with the She Is Ministry in Tanzania. The first recipient (link to blog post) received a bursary of $100 US dollars and a one on one Strategy Session with our Principal.

This initiative is now managed by our coordinator Miss Mwendeche Masima.

It is our goal here at Alafea Institute to expand these bursaries and offer it to final year university female students in East Africa and the Caribbean.

Our  Vision

To provide five (5) $1,000 US dollar bursaries to young women in East Africa and the Caribbean who are completing their final year undergraduate studies.

Our Mission

To inspire change in the lives of young women in pursuit of a better life through education.

Why We are a cut above the rest

I attended the leadership training of Ms. Alafea Tomlinson led at Wuhan Optical Foreign Language School in September 2018.  I was impressed by her range of international experience and awareness. Her knowledge of intercultural human resources and managerial topics made her an asset in professional development. Thank you, Ms. Tomlinson, for contributing to the growth of our school.
